On Nov. 29, 2016, Margaret Berardino, a resident at Life Care Center of Bridgeton, Missouri, turned 100.
The facility hosted a birthday party for Berardino on Nov. 26. Charlene Willey, director of dining services, planned the event with the help of Berardino’s son, and many of her extended family members were able to come to town to celebrate. The dietary team served shrimp cocktail, deli sandwiches, veggie and fruit trays and set up a punch fountain and dessert table.
Berardino took photos with family members under a balloon arch, and local entertainer Anita Marie performed. Guests had a chance to sing too, with a karaoke session.
Born in St. Louis, Berardino loved to go dancing when she was young. She married Vincent Berardino in 1938, and they had three children. She was a homemaker.
Berardino moved in to Life Care Center of Bridgeton in 2013.
When she was asked how it feels to be 100, Berardino said, “I can’t believe it.”
Her best advice for a good life?
“Do unto others as you would have done unto you.”
